how stella got her groove back

manana yo tengo mi examane orale de espanol. yo me siento que porque yo ahora hablo dos lenguas romanticas, espanol y italiano, sere confundido. yo ya tengo algunas palabaras italiano que yo dijo in lugar de palabaras espanol. when speaking spanish in conversation (to alex, my mom, grandparents, etc.) i say the following things:
-i don't say "muy" (very) anymore, just molto (very in italian)
-i now conjugate the spanish verb "ser" as if it were the italian equivelent, "essere"
-i have totally forgotten how to say confused in spanish. i only now know how to say it in italian. i said it in my little statment above, but i actually had to look it up.

none the less, the good thing is i am getting pretty fluent in italian now, and i'm working out to stop confusing the two languages.

i hate it when people try to argue that students at the univeristy of chicago are social beings. they are not. in fact, i have never been surrounded by a larger group of anti-social people in my life. but i'm not really complaining, i'm happy and like it here, so so will anybody else, social or not. why? because being social is an invididual virtue in which those that do not exhibit it are irrelavent towards yourself. the characterisic of being social, for all intensive purposes let's call it "socialism", is not affeceted by one's surroundings, but by one's own individualness. if someone exhibits socialism, they will not have problems finding others in group that are also socialistic (those in set x). the fact that there is also a set "z" (such that z > x) is irrelvent to those in set x, since there is no set y in which elements of both z and x exist. if an individual is social, they are social, and placing them within a plane in which there are more points within set z then within set x (and no points within set y, clearly, since set y DNE) is not going to change that. there is still a minority set x in which they can, and will, associate with during thier free time. while i find it upsetting that socialism is not a minority characteristic on this campus, it does make for a setting in which i seem to know just about everybody that is social, which is a nice advantage.

yesterday was fun, sort of. for comparison purposes only...

erika, alex, matt, and I (emphasis on the "and i" and correct grammar) decided we were going to the apartment party at 54th street. the first address we got was 54th & ingelside. as it turns out, this was not any type of party. it was a party thrown by some people in which girls/boys were enticed to bring thier straight guy/girl friends so they would get drunk and hook up with gay guys/girls. after the premise, we decided to check out another party on 54th & woodlawn. before that, we stopped at "the room 301". with the simple three words: "laura, you coming?", laura joined us. so did elizibeth and raquel. we went, and couldnt find it. we joined up with oliver and some of his maclean gang, and stood on the corner, calling people to get the address. as this happened, we then decided to go to the ingelside party, since its still better than nothing. laura, raquel, and elizabeth leave to kimbark liquor store, they say they join us later. finally, a call to anita "gets down at xxx" bhatacharjee reveled the address, which happened to be about 20 metres from where we were standing. stupid us. we go. it sucked. we were there 30 minutes max. having some "ins" at alpha del, me/matt/oliver/alex/erika decide to check out the alpha del cocktail. we walk all the way back to campus, only to see (luckily before we knock) that it is a formal cocktail. so while matt and erika decide to go home, oliver/alex/I decide to go back. we go back to the party, and its emptier than it was eariler. not cool. it sucked. then the hendersons joined us, including anita, jon, and everyone's favouirte lucy. didnt make it better. we left headed towards 54th & hyde park (to the east) for another party. a few blocks, we find out the party might not even exist, so we settle for the 54th & ingelside party, turning around and going east. we were there for a max of 15 minutes. it sucked major. we were out fast. oliver went to mclean and me and alex walked back. alex went to her room, but i joined lauara/eliz/raquel and watched shark attack 3: meglodon. the parties sucked. they really sucked. but it didnt change the fact that i did have a fun night.

let's see, waht else is going on...ummm...there i sosmething i was gonna write but i forgot....lemme think....i forget.

blogs are still for loosers. i'm an exception. plus, i dont count, since i only update once a week max.

-today at dinner i was talking with alex (who is like the coolest person ever!) and we discussed my future. i will never work in my life, its as simple as that. i will marry some rich executive wife who will go work every day while i stay at home and play games with my daughter, paris, and my son, myles (or oslo). i wont do chores though, thats the maids job. no cooking either. ill drive the kids to school and do grocery shopping, though, its all good.

-people at this school always tell me that im a really good dancer. thats all good, though my friends, two in particular, tell me im a really bad dancer (though one of them's good style of dancing involves pole). im confused. though another one of my friends from home is a really, really bad dancer (like seriously bad) that when someone dances with him/her it makes themselves look like a bad dancer just by association.

-oggi non ho fatto molte cose. io non so perche tutti mundi diceno che hanno molti compiti, perche io non ho mai molti compiti. ma, la vera e che io non ho il dedicacione a il mio lavoro che molte degli miei amici hanno. sto practicando il mio italiano. mi piace parlarlo e scriverlo. oggi nel'italiano, ho empicato leggendo una storia di Dario Fo che e sopra un ladron che sta rubando una casa. e molte interestante e un po comica.

-il mio cumpleanno era fantastico, ma soltanto era il primo girono della mia cumplesettimana.

-back in the day i (i.e. 10th grade) i was in a group of four pepsi commercials. well, today, randomly, on AIM, this one girl that filmed the commercials with me IM'd me. i havent spoken to her since april 2001. isn't it wierd when you suddenly start talking to people you havent talked to in a loooong time?

-speaking of which, i finally have my shots printed and i'm supposed to see my new chicago agent on wednesday that my miami agent hooked me up with. i havent done any commercial/print since 10th grade, but i'd like to get back into it. it's an easy way to make quick cash. one five hour photo shoot can usually rake in about 600$ before agent commission.

-someone has my pillow! its really annoying, because i miss my pillow and now i having somebody elses. if you slept over my room in the past 3-4 weeks, and you know who you are, bring me back my pillow. i have yours, obviously. i can understand why you decided to take my much nicer, softer down pillow over yours, but thats just not cool.

-i went to the valentine's formal this weekend with anita. it was pretty trippin'. we enjoyed it. though, whoever formed it, providing free transporation to the palmer house hilton was very nice, but next time, dont ever do it on a school bus. needless to say, we took a taxi cab back.

-my grandparents sent me two boxes full of clothes from abercrombie&fitch for my brithday. that was very nice of them. too bad the sweater was ugly, gotta return it. the rest rocked.

-speaking of abercrombie, i only wear a&f boxers (its bad luck not too!). i just got my 14th & 15th pairs respectivly. at 14.50$ a pair, that means i have roughly 255€ invested in boxer shorts. just about enough for an iPod Mini. that's pretty sad now that i think of it.

-the phySci/astroPhysics midterm was not as bad as i though it would be. it was okay

-ever have a girl follow you and be in all your birthday night pictures, and then you have to explain to your friends that you don't know her? ceyda has.

-the lambda party on friday night was a lot of fun.

-ugly people with an ear span almost as long as thier 6'4" height have no right to judge whether or not other people are beautiful/attractive. they are ugly. by being born as an ugly/unattractive person, one looses the priveledge to do judge attractiveness, as they themselves are not attractive and are jealous of those that are, therefore they will instantly judge attractive people as "ugly" or "fake" for the sole purpose of boosting thier already weak self-esteem. hey, at least uglies are smart and will live succsessful lives full of knowledge without a need to use looks and sexual favours to get them places.

-spring break is just about a month away. awesome bobawesome.

lol, i think it is funny that i added "currently reading" to the last thingy, because, in reality, i'm not reading anything. i don't read books, i hate reading. it is boring, and i rather watch the movie. none the less, i did not read the Orestes. in fact, of the 25 people in my greek thought class, i was probably one of only two who did not read the book. we got our papers back today, though not before the teacher told us the "papers were terrible", "some of the worst he has seen", and there were only "about 10 grades higher than a C". i wasn't worried, i got a B, and even a comment that said "This is a well written and provocative paper on Orestes....I was especially struck by your consistent attention to the text, and I was imprssed by the skill with which you used to approiate texutal evidence to support your claims...you have clearly read the play carefully..." LOL. in my head i was laughing really hard, because i didn't read the book, yet i still got on of the only good grades in the class. hehe. anyway, it is february, which is my birthmonth. this week in particulary is my birthweek. since my birthday falls on a sunday, i technically have two birthweeks this year, depending on weather you use the american week (sunday through saturday) or the european week (monday through sunday). i like this month because i can run up higher than normal credit charges and my parents cannot question them. so far, i've bought myself an iPod and a new pair of diesel jeans. my parents better get me good stuff for my birthday. yesterday i went downtown with ceyda to the auto show. it was awesome, again. i love the autoshow. we ended up going downtown later. it was trip. auditions for the family to host paris and nichole for the simple life ii are in brooksville, florida this saturday. if it were not for the fact that i am in chicago, i would put my family in the our 12MPG suv (i say that proudly, since i enjoy the fact that my mom's SUV is a huge gas guzzler) right now for the 6 hour trip to brooksville, because we would definitley be the next simple life family. bye.

time for my weekly sunday night update...let's see

....just got back from the pyk (prounounced pike) party. it was the WORST PARTY I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO! i swear, i have never been to such a bad party. first of all, when we (me, sara, matt, rico, phil, and erika) showed up, you could count all seven (ugly) girls that were there. secondly, it was bad. third, it was really bad. i was out early, home by two.

....went to the auto show saturday with matt and erika. it was way too crowded, but it ROCKED! i am going again tomorrow with ceyda, and it is a monday so it should not be packed.

....next weekend is my birthday weekend and it is going to be AN INCREDIBLY AWESOME weekend.

....before that, however, i am going to fail my natSci midterm. but it is okay...so are vincent, julian, oliver, andrew, jeff, ceyda, sonjia, ela, leslie, amy, and everyone else in the class.

...erika/sara are doing this "electoral college" thing when it comes to hooking up with people. when they hook up, they win the electoral college of the state the guy/girl is from. and trust me, for the sake of non-embarrasment, i wont go into specifics, but do they (well, one of the two) ever go far to win electoral colleges! im not particpating, but i did a little counting of my own, and i've already won 11 states and two foreign countries and gotten to the turnpike's last exit three times. erika says foreign countries don't count, so i guess that means texas doesn't count either.

...i had pinkeye about a week ago. now i gave it to amanda. sorry amanda. speaking of which, i just got a message from her regarding giving her my pink eye prescription medication. brb....

...back. umm, random thoughts...i get my greek thought paper back on tuesday. this was my thesis: "Part of a woman’s strength is that they conceal their power, which is why they seem powerless, but are at the same time the actual driving force behind society, as Electra demonstrates in the Orestes." i basiclly talked about the play orestes and how the females characters are imbededly the main instigators of the actions and therefore the related affects. i really hope i did well.

..."elijah" was at the party tonight. me and matt did our best to make sure he got jealous that erika wasn't his.

....this weekend, the frisbee party SUCKED but psiu was awesome. i didn't get back until 3.30/4.00 (and, for those of you thinking, that's early, please note, at uchicago, it isn't, and in chicago, things run an hour earlier. the nightly news is at 10pm, leno at 10.30pm, the workday is 8-4, not 9-5, etc. etc.)

...natSci SUCKS! really really SUCKS! it is more like astrophysics than natSci.

...im just about done with my hum paper. for the most part, i finished it early, on friday and saturday. when i was pretty much done, most of my friends in my class have yet to start. i feel good.

...my parents always semi-complained about spending so much money a year for me to go to college. yet i didn't see any complaints when my dad gave my mom a diamond ring for her birthday that could pay for a full year of tuition and board. not cool.

...super bowl is tonight. gotta love those commericals yo.

...fire alarm went off in max central last nite (i slept out), and it was loud. i was standing outside with like no clothes on (well, i had clothes on, but it felt like no clothes since it was -15 degrees celsius)
